Clients often tell me they are overwhelmed with all there is to do at Magic Kingdom and they are afraid they will miss rides, parades, or other events. It is easy to skip some attractions because they do not necessarily offer the same appeal as others, but sometimes these offer hidden gems that you do not want to miss.
On my last trip to Walt Disney World we decided to ride the raft across the river and explore Tom Sawyer’s Island. Nestled in between Frontierland, Liberty Square, and Adventureland, Tom Sawyer’s Island offers not only an “escape” from the hustle and bustle of the main park, but also a nice shaded area with great views.
While the raft ride can be a bit crowded, once you get on the island you can be as quick or as slow as you want exploring the sites. The trees provide a great shade as you walk along the paths and the tunnels offer an even cooler area during the hot and humid summer.
One of the other things I love about the island is the views of the park. As you walk around and look out towards the different areas you are offered beautiful views without the crazy sounds or people pushing past you headed to their next destination.
Tom Sawyer’s Island is an easy attraction to skip to make time for other experiences. However, when you need a few minutes to decompress or a few minutes to cool off, this is a great place to do it.
